We operate a Food Pantry & a Thrift Store that are located off of Old Hwy 52 on the backside of main St. in Pilot Mtn. Our hours of operation for the Food Pantry & the Thrift Store are 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Mon. Tues. Thurs. & Fri. The Thrift store is also open on Sat. from 9:00am – 1:00pm. We operate completely by help from Volunteers at both the Food Pantry & the Thrift Store.

A Backpack program has been in operation at Westfield Elem. School for several years. With the help of a grant through Lowes Foods & food from Second Harvest Food Bank in Winston-Salem 50 backpacks are filled each week. We have a couple that come to the center one day a week & fill the backpacks with 10 lbs. of food. The backpacks are then taken to the school & given to the children on Fri. Children who receive the backpacks are chosen by the school according to need so we do not know who receives them.

A GED class is being held in the side room off of the Thrift Store. This class is provided through Surry Community College. Several have received their GED’s because of this class. With the economy as it is & many never finishing High School we have found this is a much-needed class.

People often wonder what S.E.A.M.S. stands for. This stands for Seeking Evangelistic Associated Ministry Services. This is the International Ministry side of our ministry. We have gone to Ukraine & Wales on mission trips. As the Lord leads we will continue to do mission trips. S.E.A.M.S. & the Pilot Mtn. Outreach Center are kept separate. The ministry in Pilot actually began because of our mission trips to Ukraine. We saw people in need in Ukraine & God spoke to us & showed us we could do ministry here at home in Pilot also. The ministry was first called SEAMS but was changed a few years ago to Pilot Mtn. Outreach Center to make it more community friendly.

We are also considered a faith based job site. This means anyone can do just about everything they do at the unemployment office through our center. If they have no complications they can even file for their unemployment at our center. We have 6 computers that can be used anytime we are open. People can search for jobs on line & do their resumes. We have volunteers trained to help with all areas of the computers if anyone needs assistance.
